One common lesson of all the scriptures and the teachings of all the sages is that “as long as I remain the way I am, I cannot come to the Truth or God or Brahman”. A radical transformation is required from freedom for myself to freedom from myself.
We will explore the science of Yoga as elaborated in the two classics of Yoga—the Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita. The God-incarnate Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita that no action can be right until the actor is right.
To become the right actor, a radical transformation of our whole being is required. This is why He teaches a variety of yogas emphasizing that Yoga is the science par excellence of transformation.
The main yoga that Krishna teaches is the yoga of awareness (buddhi yoga) since awareness is the major mechanism of transformation.
