Yoga For Healthy Aging

Yoga for Healthy Aging is a class designed to foster your physical, mental and emotional health. This yoga practice supports your ability to maintain and manage daily activities by keeping the body resilient and strong through functional movement patterns that carry over into everyday life. Participants develop a deeper awareness in how they walk, breathe, and sit with proper alignment—essential skills that support overall health, efficiency of movement, and long-term independence.

The practice is designed to meet a wide variety of students’ needs while reflecting the teacher’s heartfelt approach. It begins with 5 minutes of pranayama (breathwork), followed by 10 minutes of gentle movement for the neck and nerve flossing techniques, and then continues with 20 minutes of therapeutic movement on the floor and on the mat, as well as 20 minutes of chair-based practice.

The class moves at a slow to moderate pace, emphasizing breathing, physical awareness, and relaxation. This approach helps improve strength, mobility, and flexibility while reducing stress and supporting meaningful improvements in daily function and quality of life.

The class closes with a 20 minute guided yoga nidra practice to calm the nervous system and quiet the mind.
