Meagan Synnott

Yoga Instructor

Meagan’s exploration of yoga began with a prenatal class she attended over 14 years ago.
She went based on a doctor’s recommendation thinking it might be nice to do a ‘little stretching’ and was captivated by it’s many benefits, especially those beyond the physical.

Certified through Yoga Passage in 2009 (200 hours), she has studied various styles of yoga including Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Anusara, and Kundalini. In 2010, Meagan’s passion for the health of moms and babies compelled her to pursue training in pre- and post-natal yoga and a career as a Doula. In 2014, Meagan completed 300 additional hours of teacher training, “Attune to Remember” under the tutelage of senior teachers Ally Bogard, Tanis Fishman and Celeste Needham. This training radically altered her perception of what this practice really is and has infused her teaching with both meaning and simplicity.

Influenced by her background in Psychology, and Calgary’s community of brilliant yogis, Meagan is a knowledgeable guide. A student first, she believes the key to effective teaching is humility. Drawing on ancient wisdom from many different schools of yoga, she favours an individualized approach to asana, recognizing that we arrive on our mats with a diversity of life experiences, anatomies and physiologies. Her approach emphasizes the connection between movement and breath, body and mind.

To her, the beauty of yoga practice can be distilled to present moment awareness, and unity consciousness, or, put more simply, love.
